1. Panipat

Panipat is one of the districts of Haryana, formed on 1st November 1989. It shares borders with Sonipat, Karnal, and Jind districts. The district is historically significant due to the famous Battles of Panipat.

2. Ambala

Ambala, one of the oldest districts in Haryana, shares borders with Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, and Punjab. It was formed in 1847 and is known for its army cantonment and scientific instruments industry.

3. Bhiwani

Bhiwani, formed on 22nd December 1972, is located in western Haryana. The district shares borders with Hisar, Rohtak, and Jhajjar and is often referred to as “Mini Kashi” due to its numerous temples.

4. Faridabad

Faridabad was established on 15th August 1979. It is a key industrial hub and shares borders with Delhi, Palwal, and Gurgaon districts. It is also part of the National Capital Region (NCR).

5. Fatehabad

Fatehabad was carved out of Hisar district on 15th July 1997. It shares borders with Hisar, Sirsa, and Punjab. The district is predominantly agricultural with a rich historical legacy.

6. Gurgaon (Gurugram)

Gurgaon, renamed as Gurugram in 2016, is one of Haryana’s most urbanized and economically developed districts. Formed in 1979, it shares borders with Delhi, Rewari, and Faridabad.

7. Hisar

Hisar, formed on 1st November 1966, is a prominent district known for its rich history, agriculture, and steel industries. It shares borders with Sirsa, Fatehabad, and Bhiwani.

8. Jhajjar

Jhajjar was formed on 15th July 1997 and shares borders with Rohtak, Gurgaon, and Rewari. It is known for its fast-developing industrial sector and its proximity to the Delhi NCR.

9. Jind

Jind is one of the oldest districts in Haryana, established in 1966. It shares borders with Sonipat, Rohtak, and Karnal. Jind has a significant historical and mythological connection with Mahabharata.

10. Kaithal

Kaithal, formed on 1st November 1989, shares borders with Kurukshetra, Karnal, and Jind. It is known for its ancient temples and historical relevance dating back to the Mahabharata era.

11. Karnal

Karnal was established on 1st November 1966. The district shares borders with Kurukshetra, Panipat, and Yamunanagar. Known as the “Rice Bowl of India,” it has historical links to the Mahabharata.

12. Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra, formed on 1st November 1966, is one of the most historically and religiously significant districts in Haryana. It shares borders with Karnal, Ambala, and Kaithal and is the site of the epic Mahabharata battle.

13. Mahendragarh

Mahendragarh, formed in 1948, is located in the southern part of Haryana and shares borders with Rewari, Bhiwani, and Rajasthan. It is known for its historical forts and agriculture.

14. Mewat (Nuh)

Mewat, also known as Nuh, was established on 4th April 2005. It is situated in southern Haryana and shares borders with Gurgaon and Palwal. The district is largely rural and known for its cultural heritage.

15. Palwal

Palwal, carved out of Faridabad on 15th August 2008, shares borders with Faridabad, Nuh, and Mathura (Uttar Pradesh). It holds historical significance related to Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement.

16. Panchkula

Panchkula was formed on 15th August 1995 and shares borders with Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Ambala. It is part of the Chandigarh Tricity area and is known for its lush greenery and modern urban planning.

17. Rewari

Rewari, formed on 1st November 1989, shares borders with Gurgaon, Jhajjar, and Mahendragarh. It is known for its historical rail heritage and brass industries.

18. Rohtak
